Trails Program Seeks Volunteers

Fayetteville’s bike trails could soon see its own brigade of volunteers pedaling up and down the popular routes.

The Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Division will launch Trail Trekkers, a program for volunteers who want to o◊er assistance - whether it’s a scraped knee or reporting aburned out street lamp.

“It gives us more eyes on our trails for maintenance issues,” said Brad Dutton, a recreation programs manger, organizing Trail Trekkers. “The more eyes we have on our trail, the better our trails will be.”

Volunteers in the new program must first take a training course. Afterwards, Trekkers reporting for duty will be issued a “Trail Trekker kit,” which will include a cell phone,water bottle, first aid kit ...
