Spring forward and fall back
Sunday morning was the time to get back the hour we lost in April to Daylight Savings Time.
Now, we are on regular Central Standard Time. It’s also a great timeto do some semi-annual safety checks around your home, apartment or business.
Take a few moments to check the batteries in your smoke detector and carbon- monoxide detector.
Be sure to push the test button to see if the system works and the warning alert sounds as it should.
Let your whole family hear the detector as it sounds so that they will know that sound and be able to recognize it in case of an emergency.
New batteries and a quick system check should go hand-in-hand with the resetting of the clocks for both spring and fall Daylight Savings Time changes.
While you’re at it, clean out the cobwebs, dust or any other debris that may be clogging up the vent holes that would let the smoke into the detector. Do it before spring rolls around with the same old dead battery in your alarm.
