FAYETTEVILLE: Public visits aid adoption chances

Socializing away from animal shelter shows dogs’ real nature

Julie Ironside, a volunteer with the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, tosses a disc for Brie, a 4-year-old shepherd/beagle mix, Saturday along the Fayetteville Square. Volunteers bring dogs out to the Fayetteville Farmers Market in hopes of getting them adopted.

John Fields gathered slack on a loosely held leash tethered to Brownie, a 3-year-old vizsla mix he walked at the Fayetteville Farmers Market on Saturday.
