Will miss free news online
BENTON COUNTY — I am more than a little unhappy to learn of your plans to limit your online newspaper to subscribers only. I grew up in Benton County and still have family in the area. I enjoy reading about the happenings up there and keeping abreast of the news from my hometown. I don't have the funds to subscribe to a daily newspaper either in print or online. With me being out of town, the print edition just doesn't make sense anyway.
I also disagree with your thoughts that online advertising is not beneficial and people don't click on banners. I can think of several occasions when I chose a company in northwest Arkansas to do business with rather than purchase something here and ship it. And I found that company on your Web site.
I'll say goodbye to your online site at the end of the month and probably switch to television news coverage instead. I may be a minority, but I'm definitely a lost "customer" to you and your advertisers.
