GOP committee members send canned food to needy
Posted: July 30, 2009 at 7:19 a.m.
Members of the Benton County Republican Committee brought lots of canned food items to their political meeting Tuesday night - items that are being donated to Meals on Wheels. "There have been a lot of contributions. I appreciate everybody that participated in that," GOP County Committee Chairman Mike Sevak said. Earlier this month, Sevak asked committee members who would be attending Tuesday night's meeting to leave donated canned food items in his truck. He pledged himself to take the items to be donated to the nonprofit Meals on Wheels in Rogers. He plans to make the trip Wednesday, Sevak said earlier this week. Other senior meal programs by various names are in many communities in the United States, but Meals on Wheels is the most recognized name of senior nutrition programs, a Meals on Wheels Web site states.
