Siloam Springs Writers to meet

SILOAM SPRINGS David Eslick will be the guest speaker at the group's meeting at 7 p.m. Saturday at Books on Broadway.
Eslick is a 1980 graduate of Siloam Springs High School. He has a degree in music education from Arkansas Tech University and is associate pastor of the Fellowship of Christians in Russellville, where he has served since 1992.
The group's May winners of prose and poetry were announced. Prose winners were first place, Rachel Kulp, "On a Summer Day"; and second place, Suzanne Stubblefield, "The Brightest Flower." Poetry winners were first place, Billie Hammers, "Springtime and Roses"; second place, Margaret Weathers, "My Magic Rose"; and third place, Rachel Kulp, "Rose Blown Away."
The topics for assignments to be turned in for August are for prose, "Childhood Revisited" or "Nostalgia"; and for poetry, an etheree.
The entries and fees for the September Writers' Workshop may be turned in at Saturday's meeting or postmarked by Aug. 6 and sent to Margaret Weathers, 716 W. University, Siloam Springs, AR 72761.
Inspirational poems are to be turned in at the door. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Senior Activity Center on Heritage, off Tulsa Street.
