Senate panel's vote goes 13-6 for Sotomayor

GOP displays its opposition but seems unlikely to prevail

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday approved Judge Sonia Sotomayor to be the first Hispanic Supreme Court justice, over nearly solid Republican opposition.
