For reasons we may never understand, a beloved son, husband, father and friend was lost with the sudden departure of Shannon Jared Childre on Thursday, July 23, 2009. His spirit and passion for life could always be felt in his infectious smile and will carry forth with those of us fortunate enough to have experienced this genuine soul.
Shannon was the consummate father to his beloved children, Griffin and Lily, a principled and loving husband to his beautiful wife, Lindly, honorable son to his parents, George Childre and Kay and Doug Grace, as well as a dedicated brother to Dru. For the rest of us, he was the harbor where we always found calm seas and secure moorings. Shannon was passionate about reading and dancing with his children, loving Lindly, sharing laughter with family and friends, watching or playing soccer, music, the arts, bringing creative visions to life, and protecting the environment. Shannon was defined by his smile, kindness and his unwavering decision to always do the right thing in every situation.
Shannon Jared Childre was born Sept. 25, 1969, in Houston. His formative years were spent in Carrolton and Richardson, Texas, where he graduated from J.J. Pearce High School in 1987. After obtaining a degree from Stephen F. Austin in journalism in 1993, he entered the advertising profession as an art director. Most recently, he was an associate creative director with Uproar, a Dallas-based advertising agency where the news of his loss resonated through the halls with disbelief and sorrow.
Shannon will always be present in the hearts and minds of his wife, Lindly Storey Childre; son, Griffin Nichols Childre, age 2; daughter, Lily Dru Childre, age 1; his parents, George Childre and Kay and Doug Grace; brother, Dru and wife Laurie along with their children, Wyatt and Eli; stepbrother, Marc Grace and wife Becky with their son, Jack; stepsister, Kelli; niece, Michelle; his grandparents, Paul and Nancye Parker; mother and father-in-law, Patricia and Judge William A. Storey; and the many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-inlaw and all the friends whose lives he touched. Godspeed, Shannon.
A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday. Please call 214-259-3900 for additional information.
