Harwell receives scholarship to U of O

— Landon Harwell, a recent graduate of Gentry High School, has been awarded a Commitment to Excellence Scholarship to attend University of the Ozarks, beginning in the Fall 2009 Semester.

Landon is the son of Pam Harwell and the grandson of Charlotte and the late Jerry

Harwell.

He plans to major in physical education at U of O and play baseball for the NCAADivision III Eagles. At GHS, Landon played football and baseball.

The Commitment to Excellence Scholarship is worth $8,000 per year and is awarded based on significant achievement and academic excellence in high school, combined with above average college entrance test scores.

Ozarks is a four-year, private university that has been ranked as a "top tier" comprehensive college by U.S.

News & World Report for the past 10 years.
