— The Bentonville All-Stars ran into another buzzsaw Tuesday at the 15-year-old Babe Ruth North Arkansas State Tournament.

The All-Stars were eliminated after losing to Springdale 5-0 at the Tyson Complex.

After collecting 13 runs in their first two games of the tournament in wins against Springdale (6-2) and Osceola (7-1), the All-Stars dropped an 8-3 decision to Mountain Home on Monday setting up the elimination game against Springdale.

"We ran into a couple of good pitchers in Mountain Home and Springdale," Bentonville coach Kevin Swartwood said. "We faced both of their No. 1s."

The All-Stars fell behind 2-0 inthe first inning as Springdale plated two runs against right-hander Trace Craig.

Craig pitched well, only giving up two earned runs in five innings.

"He pitched another strong ballgame," Swartwood said.

Springdale scored its other three runs in the sixth inning. Craig Salvatore pitched the final two innings for the All-Stars.

The All-Stars' offensive chances came few and far between.

"We had several runners get on base but it just seemed like it was always with two outs," Swartwood said.

"It was a nice run. Actually I told the kids I'm very proud of them."
