Frisco Film Night, 8 p.m., Frisco Stage, Rogers Kids art festival set for Saturday

Xtreme Artz KidFest, a free back-to-school event sponsored by the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith's Academy of the Arts, will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.

The drop-in event will feature children's games and a performance of Lil' Abner by students from Summer Camp Explozion, a theater summer camp for children in grades 3-11.

Information will be available about theater, music and dance courses for children.

Gala to benefit cancer society chapter

The American Cancer Society will host "A Vintage Affair - Making Cancer a Part of History" Saturday from 8 p.m.-midnight at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers.

The ball will feature auctions, dinner and late-night dancing.

Dress is black tie.

Tickets are $100 per person or $200 per couple. Proceeds go to the Northwest Arkansas chapter.

Memory Walk set in Harrison

The Alzheimer's Association will host the North Central Arkansas Memory Walk from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at Fashion Center Mall in Harrison.

The Memory Walk is the group's national signature event.

Since 1989, Memory Walks across the U.S. have raised more than $200 million to help those battling Alzheimer's disease.

The North Central Arkansas event will help those in Baxter, Boone, Carroll and Newton counties.

Health expo planned in Springdale

The American Diabetes Association of Northwest Arkansas will host the 2009 Diabetes Health and Wellness Expo from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale.

The event is designed for people who have diabetes, who might be at risk for diabetes or who are just interested in healthful living.

Free blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and bone density screenings will be available.

There also will be cooking and exercise demonstrations and speakers on a variety of diabetes-related and general health topics.
