— Brandon Scott Baker of Fayetteville and Amy Elizabeth Matlock, Katherine A. Perrin, Meghann Kristina Swafford and Rebekah Leighanne Williams, all of Springdale, have been named to the dean's academic honor list at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, for the spring 2009 semester. To be named to the dean's list, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum gradepoint average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

The following students graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas:

◊Chelsea Lynee Jordan of Fayetteville graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

◊Katherine Anne Perrin of Springdale graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in early childhood - Fourth Grade.

◊Meghann Kristina Swafford of Springdale graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing and management.

Courtney Lennis Seigler of Fayetteville has been named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for the 2008-2009 academic year. She is a senior at Oklahoma Baptist University. Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities is an annual honors program honoring the leading college students in the United States. The program recognizes academic excellence, outstanding accomplishments and contributions to community and school.

Seigler also received a bachelor's degree in biochemistry during Oklahoma Baptist University's 2009 Spring Commencement on May 23 in the university's Raley chapel. She graduated with the scholastic predicate cum laude for maintaining at least a 3.4 grade-point average.

Roderick Michael Kidd, a graduate of Elkins High School, has been awarded a Dean's Scholarship to attend University of the Ozarks, beginning the fall 2009 semester. Kidd's guardians are David and Elizabeth Melcher of Elkins. At Elkins High School, Kidd received the FFA Greenhand award, theAlgebra II award, the Computer Applications 1 & 2 award, and the Chemistry award. He was named to the school's honor roll, was a student aide, and was involved in track and field as well as the junior class play.

The Dean's Scholarship has a potential four-year net worth of $40,000 and is awarded based on significant achievement and academic excellence in high school, combined with wellabove-average college entrance test scores.

The following students received degrees from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., at the end of the spring 2009 session.

◊Aloysha Char vanay Nash of Fayetteville received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She is a 2005 graduate of Fayetteville High School.

◊Lauren Danielle Behl of Prairie Grove received a Bachelor of Science in marketing. She is a 2003 graduate of Prairie Grove High School.

◊Emily Kaye Parsons of Springdale received a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. She is a 2005 graduate of home schooling.

Grant Beasley of Fayetteville and Johnathan Pennington of Springdale were named to University of Arkansas at Little Rock chancellor's list for the spring 2009 semester. To make the list, students must take at least nine credit hours per semester and earn a 3.9 grade-point average, with no grades of D, F, No Credit or Incomplete.

Madeline Ortego of Fayetteville has been selected as one of eight students to serve as a new leader of the Student Alumni Council at William Woods University. She is a sophomore undeclared major and is the co-coordinator of finals snacks and outstanding students projects. Officers of the council are responsible for planning and organizing events that help students and alumni interact, as well as help students make the transition from student to alumnus. The council is also responsible for raising school spirit and community awareness of William Woods.

Elizabeth Miller, a senior at Springdale High School, has been selected to receive a Choir Performance scholarship from Southern Arkansas University. She is the daughter of Jeff and Vickie Miller.

The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith awarded 705 degrees and certificates for the spring 2009 semester and the first summer term this year.
