LITTLE ROCK The Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission submitted Monday to the state Supreme Court 1,936 pages of documents in its case against Circuit Judge L.T. Simes of Helena-West Helena.
The court ruled June 25 that the commission failed to provide the court with the "entire record" of the case against Simes.
It ordered the commission to file the additional documents by Monday. It also ordered each side to file briefs Aug. 17 and reply briefs by Aug. 31.
The court said the commission should have filed the complaints made against Simes, the allegations against Simes by the commission and notices given Simes by the commission, among other things.
Commission Executive Director David Stewart said the case will be further explained when the briefs are filed.
The commission recommended April 24 that Simes be removed from office. He is accused of acting as a lawyer while serving as a judge by handling the affairs of an estate.
Simes has denied that he acted wrongly.
He is a judge for the 1st Judicial District, which includes Cross, Lee, Monroe, Phillips, St. Francis and Woodruff counties.
