Heritage Wrestlers Finish Fifth

The Rogers Heritage wrestling team notched a fifth-place team finish in the 24-team Springfield (Mo.) Holiday Classic, which concluded Wednesday. Heritage was sitting sixth after the first day but moved up a spot on the second day.

The War Eagles had six wrestlers finish among the top eight in their respective weight classes, led by Cole Bundy at 130, who took fourth.

In addition, Casey Dye was fifth (152), Ty Roderique sixth (152), Connor Bolton (215), Paxon Fowler (125) seventh and Bucky Willett (112) was eighth.

Heritage coach Randy Steen was happy with his team’s performance.

“I think we made progress,” Steen said. “Like I said yesterday, we won more matches on the first day this year than we did in two days last year. The competition’s tough.

“I think we made tremendous progress,” he added. “The three kids we had medal were on the junior national team over the summer.”

Bentonville finished 21st in the event.
