Shirley Ann Nuckolls

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Shawnee resident Shirley Ann Nuckolls, 60, passed peacefully from this life with her family at her side on Dec. 20, 2009. Shirley Ann was born Sept. 18, 1949, in Bentonville to George Hardbarger and Lenoria “Dixie” Rackley.

She attended Shawnee High School and was a dedicated employee of Arby’s restaurant until retirement in May 2009 due to health issues. She will be best remembered as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, sisaroo and dedicated friend. She had an unconditional love and support for her family’s happiness and success.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Hardbarger; stepfather, Jesse Rackley; sister, Linda Mae Hughes; and daughter-in-law, Karrie Jane Nuckolls.

She is survived by her mother, Lenoria “Dixie” Rackley; her stepmother, Betty Dean; three children, Cary Nuckolls and wife, Lisa, Timothy Nuckolls and wife, Cathy, and Marita Nuckolls-Stout and husband, Kevin; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her beloved sisaroo, Betty Jo Brewer; a stepbrother, Chris Rackley; siblings, Lisa, Shauna, Johnnie and Earnie Hardbarger; and an uncle, Charlie Hardbarger.

Funeral services were held at Victory Chapel in Shawnee.

Arlo Evans

SPRINGDALE — Arlo Evans, 37, of Springdale passed away Dec. 28, 2009, in Springdale. He was born Dec. 13, 1972, in Woodland, Calif., to Dodie Smothers Hunter and Johnny Warford.

He was an assistant manager for Arkansas Collision Center in Springdale. Arlo graduated from Springdale High School in 1991 and also graduated from the University of Arkansas with an associate’s degree in journalism.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Dodie Hunter of Springdale; his sister, Michelle Hunter of Fayetteville; surrogate parents, including aunt Terri Niccum of Bentonville, aunt Jalee Smothers of Gulf Port, Miss., and uncle and aunt Herb and Lori Evans of Fayetteville, sometimes it takes a village.

Arlo is also survived by his grandmother, Linda Tunnell of Rogers; great-grandmother, Frieda Tunnell of Rogers; aunt and uncle Ron and Nikki Corsey of Lowell; aunt Robin Weatherbee of Garfield; uncle Bill Hunter of Santa Maria, Calif.; and lots of cousins and friends who love him very much and will miss him.

Meeting him on the other side was his loving grandfather Euel Smothers of Heaven. He was a wonderful son, loving brother, great friend and a really nice person.

A celebration of Arlo’s life will be held at a later date.

Margaret Christine Dotson

FARMINGTON — Margaret Christine Dotson, 91, of Farmington passed away Dec. 29, 2009, in Farmington. She was born Feb. 1, 1918, in Pitkin,, the daughter of C.A. and Dora Alice Schooler Rosebeary.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Farmington Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Earnest Lee Dotson; her parents; and eight siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Crownover and husband, James, of Elm Springs; two grandsons, Joel Crownover of Fort Smith, Brian and Kristine Crownover of Cave Springs; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Lee Rosebeary of Watts, Okla.; and one sister, Bonita Thomas of Fayetteville.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today in the Farmington Cemetery, with Pastor John Smedley officiating.

DeAnn Burrup Ragland Sisk

ROGERS — DeAnn Burrup Ragland Sisk of Rogers died Dec. 21, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center. She was 71 years of age. DeAnn was born Nov. 15, 1938, in Downey, Idaho, to Leslie John Burrup and Hazel Bennett Burrup.

DeAnn was preceded in death by one son, Marlin John Egbert; one daughter, Rae Ann Egbert. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Allen Blaine Ragland, and her husband of five years, William Lee Sisk. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jon R. Burrup and Doyle W. Burrup; and three sisters, Joann Kunz, Myra Lee Nelson and Hope Haymore.

She is survived by one brother, Mont L. Burrup of California; her son, Robert John Egbert; Elaine Ragland Flowers and her son-in-law Marcus Flowers, also her daughter Regina Ragland. Also the two loves of her life her granddaughters Mia Faith Flowers and Gabriel Blaine Kipness. She is also survived by 14 stepchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; countless nieces and nephews; and her very dear sister in Christ and best friend, Janet Winkler.

DeAnn was a positive role model to all she met and touched and encouraged and loved all people she met.

A private memorial service will be announced at a later date for family and special guests.

John E. Miller

ROGERS — John E. Miller, 58, of Rogers died Dec. 29, 2009, in Bentonville. He was born Feb. 8, 1951, in Belmont, N.C., to Robert and Louise Lamb Miller.

He was an Army veteran and a carpenter in the construction industry.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two sons, Chris Cherry of Jacksonville, Fla., and Shannon Miller of Rogers; a daughter, Jacqueline Miller of Rogers; a brother; a sister; five grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were by Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers.
