Rogers Firefighters Receive Awards

— Seven firefighters received awards at the Rogers Fire Department’s 121st anniversary banquet held Dec. 19.

Special recognition was given to Deputy Chief Allan Skogen for his tenure as interim fire chief, easing the transition for the department to come under the command of Chief Tom Jenkins.

Capt. Nathan Keck was recognized, also, for his leadership during the department’s most recent Probationary Firefighter Academy.

Award recipients were:

Company Officer of the Year: Capt. Nathan Keck

Firefighter of the Year: John Bobholz

Fire Company of the Year: C Shift, Engine 2

Probationary Firefighter of the Year: Chase Sutherlan

Paramedic of the Year: Capt. Doug Earp

Nominees are submitted by members of the department and command staff, said Michael Dean, public information officer for the department.

Anyone can nominate anyone else in the department, along with a description of why the person should be considered for selection.

The command staff then votes on the nominees.

Rogers Firefighters Inc., the nonprofit arm of the department, cosponsored the banquet and awards ceremony.
