Lady Mounties Fall In Tennessee

HOOK HELD WITHOUT FIELD GOAL

Mt. Juliet, Tenn., used a strong third-quarter surge to power past Rogers High in the second round of the 21st annual Greenbank Ladies Classic on Tuesday in Greeneville, Tenn.

The Lady Bears (11-1) held the Lady Mounties (9-3) scoreless for close to 5 minutes to start the third quarter in building a double-digit lead and never looked back in a 51-37 victory.

“They outplayed us today,” Rogers coach Preston Early said. “They were just better than us today. They locked us down and we did not play at a high level, offensively.”

“That is not like us,” Early added. “We got beat by a better team.”

Oklahoma signee Morgan Hook was held without a field goal and four points.

Mt. Juliet held a 13-10 lead after a quarter and increased the margin to 22-15 at the half. A 9-0 run to start the third gave the Lady Bears a solid cushion with the advantage growing to as much as 20.

Mt. Juliet shot 52 percent from the floor in the second half, while Rogers managed just 39 percent (11 of 28) for the game.

Caya Williams led Mt. Juliet with a game-high 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor.

Jazmin Coultas led the Lady Mounties with 10 points.
