Heritage Girls Suff er Double Overtime Defeat

Rogers Heritage built a nine-point second half lead, but could not hold on and lost 41-37 in double overtime to El Reno, Okla., in the first round of the Tate Boys Tire & Service Holiday Classic on Monday.

The Lady War Eagles (0-11) will now take on Will Rogers High of Tulsa at 3 p.m. today in the consolation round.

Heritage led by nine in the third quarter and by six heading into the fourth quarter, but could not hold on.

Heritage was forced to play without head coach Kevin Ramey, who returned to Rogers because of a death in the family.

Assistant coach Andy Brakebill coached the Lady War Eagles in Ramey’s absence.

Brakebill said Heritage got some strong senior leadership from Hannah Hickman and Danielle Schillinger.

“They did a great job,” Brakebill said. “They fought ... we’re just trying to get a win.”

Yalile Johnson led Heritage with 10 points, while Hickman added nine on three 3-pointers. However, Hickman fouled out in the second overtime.
