Courthouse Closed For Lack Of Heat

— The Washington County Courthouse will be closed today because there is no heat in the building.

County Judge Marilyn Edwards said she was notified by Ron Wood, building maintenance supervisor, that the heat went off in the early hours of Monday morning.

“We could not operate because it’s just too cold to bring people in there,” Edwards said. The courthouse was closed Monday.

Wood said the problem was a gas pilot valve and parts were on the way Monday afternoon to repair it.

“It won’t take long after the parts get here,” Wood said.

Wood said he wasn’t sure what caused the valve to fail but noted that the system is 25 years old.
