ON TV CONTEST

— It’s time to salute your favorite TV law enforcers.

For the On TV Contest, the judge asks: Who is your favorite TV police officer? Why?

It’s easy to enter. Just select a member of a fictional TV police force and explain why that person is No. 1 in your book. Who will it be? Cagney? Or did you prefer Lacey? Or maybe you think Andy Sipowicz of NYPD Blue can never be topped.

You are free to choose from the ranks of uniformed beat cops, undercover detectives and squad leaders as long as your favorite is with a police department. Private investigators, security guards and FBI agents don’t count. So, no, you may not write about Fox Mulder.

Do remember the “fictional” part - no “reality” shows.

Also, keep in mind you may only write about one character. Otherwise, entries could become unwieldy.

Your entry may take any form you like as long as you explain your choice.

Send the entry (one per contestant), including your mailing address and daytime phone number, to Jennifer Nixon at [email protected]. Entries must be received no later than 3 p.m. Jan. 18.

The reader with the best-written entry will win the chance to choose from Judge Nixon’s Fabulous Prize Pile of TV DVD sets.

Who can enter: anyone except the winner of the last contest, Betty Jo Morris of Little Rock, and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Northwest Arkansas Newspapers LLC employees.

Note to privacy-conscious readers: We do not compile lists of mail or e-mail addresses for evil plots or marketing purposes. All entries are destroyed after the judge has selected her winner.
