Crystal Bridges hosts new exhibit

Crystal Bridges at the Massey in Bentonville will host “Heroes of Horticulture,” an exhibit organized by the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film and The Cultural Landscape Foundation, Jan.

14 through March 21.

The exhibition features photographs by 12 celebrated photographers documenting threatened heritage landscapes located throughout the United States. An opening reception is planned for 5-7 p.m. Jan. 14.

The museum will offer a screening of Land and Landscape: Views of America’s History, which examines American landscapes as depicted in paintings and photographs from the early 19th century to the late 20th century.

On Jan. 29 at 11 a.m., Manuela Well-Off-Man will introduce the exhibit with a discussion of how landscapes connect us to our cultural heritage. Well-Off-Man is assistant curator at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

The museum will also accept submissions for the “Local Landscapes, Local Photographs” exhibit, to be displayed April 1 through May 31. The exhibit focuses on landscapes in Benton, Carroll, Madison and Washington counties that are threatened by development, disease or the ravages of time.
