ROGERS WOMAN STILL SAILING THROUGH LETTER-WRITING HOBBY

Lois Bouton of Rogers received about 600 cards for her 90th birthday in September from U.S. Coast Guard members she has been writing pen pal letters to over the past 50 years. Bouton said she writes on average about 1,000 pen pal letters a year.

She’s fairly certain she started the nickname when she began signing her letters that way. But make no mistake — Lois Bouton’s nom de plume has taken off. She is, simply, the Coast Guard Lady.
