Keep it clean

— Mohawk wood flooring with Scotchgard protection

What is it? It’s wood flooring with a topcoat that incorporates a newly developed proprietary chemical called Scotchgard Protector Advanced Repel Technology.

Huh? Yes, it’s a mouthful. What it does is provide wood flooring with much greater stain, soil and mar resistance because of what’s called an easy-release physical property.

What’s that mean? It means that most of the dirt, germs and spills won’t stick to your hardwood floor. Even paint, nail polish and permanent marker can be erased with a soft cloth. This makes cleanups faster and easier and reduces the soil buildup so that the floors look newer longer.

What normally happens is that over time, hardwood finishes develop microscopic pits or scratches that can trap dirt and make the floor dingy and less shiny, even right after cleaning. The Scotchgardprotector prevents that.

Who is the flooring for?

Let’s say you have children who skateboard indoors or use permanent markers to create art on the floor. Seriously, though, the flooring comes in solid or engineered wood in numerous types of woods and finishes. It’s worth consideration for anyone building or remodeling a home.

Price?

Because Scotchgard is a treatment and not a product, pricing will vary based on the wood and type selected. The Bell Meade shown here runs $4.99 to $5.69 per square foot; view mohawkflooring.com for details and the nearest dealer.
