LITTLE ROCK Bonjour, French cinema! A partnership between Ozark Foothills FilmFest President Bob Pest and Dominique Philippe Chastres, the French cultural attache in Houston, will help bring a soup con of French culture to Arkansas.
Chastres has assembled two programs of short dramas, animation and documentaries to introduce audiences to French cinema that will screen during the 2010 FilmFest, to be held at various venues in Batesville March 24-28. “The partnership is open-ended and should continue indefinitely,” says Pest. “If we can build enough enthusiasm, we have already discussed including feature films and guest filmmakers in future years. We are also exploring ways to reach students who are taking French classes at area high schools and colleges.”
The complete festival program will be available online at ozarkfoothillsfilmfest.org on Feb. 15.
The 16 finalists for the 48 Hour Film Project’s 2009 National Film Challenge - in which participating teams have one weekend to write, shoot and edit a short film or video - have been determined. Now is your chance to cast your vote for your favorite at filmchallenge.com. The highest rated film will be declared the Audience Award Winner, receive a trophy and a $500 cash prize, and will screen with the Grand Prize Winner (determined by the judges) and the 48 Hour Film Project City Winners at Filmapalooza at the National Association of Broadcasters Show being held April 10-15 in Las Vegas. Voting will be open through Jan. 9.
