PUBLIC VIEWPOINT Government’s Failures Are Scary

PEACE ON EARTH OVER DISPLAYS

— What happened to the party of “We the people”?

Are our elected officials not in Washington for “We the people”? Have you noticed that Washington has become even more a bunch of liars and scammers? Does that not bother “We the people”? And they want to run my health care.

I think not.

Now let’s take a peek at history with government-run things; if this doesn’t scare you into reality nothing will. In 1775 the Postal Service arrives, and after about 230 years or so, supposedly the government sold it, after they ran it into the ground. Social Security came about in 1935 and close to 75 years later the claim is that it is broke, or soon will be. Fannie Mae came along about 1938 or so, it is now broke! In 1965 came the Medicare/Medicaid plan to save the day; oh yes, baby, it’s broke too! We have Freddie Mac circa 1970, crashed and burned 38 years later! Again, you want the government to run health care? (And the cash for cars didn’t make it 90 days. What ajoke!) The only thing that bunch in D.C. can run is their mouths.

They couldn’t run hogs to water on a hot day in August.

Let’s continue with a bit more of factual scary stuff.

Ever wonder who is running the Federal Reserve? It is NOT Congress or even the president.

There are no elected officials with the Federal Reserve. Are you aware that they have never been audited? Are you aware that they set the value of our dollar? Did you know that this organization is not controlled by America? Sure, the president appoints the members for terms of 14 years. And this bunch is not accountable to anyone! Don’t take my word on any of this;

bust out the history books and see for yourself. Real history books, not one that has been revised for the self-serving bunch in Washington. And did you know that at one time it was unconstitutional to take from one citizen and give to another?

I believe that was prior to 1930.

I’m just sayin’.

DEBORAH KIPNESS

Bentonville

Idon’t understand all the furor

over the winter solstice display on the Capitol grounds. After all, our Constitution does allow for free speech. While I’m not a member of the ACLU, an atheist, agnostic or member of any organized religion, I do believe in the right of our citizens to express themselves. Limiting a display to just one group, in this case before the judge’s ruling, the nativity scene which represents only the views of Christians, is not in line with the notion of free speech. On the other hand, I can understand Charlie Daniels’ point of view in wanting to limit the number of displays on the Capitol grounds. I guess my question to him would be how many other groups have asked to put up a display? If none, then his point is a moot one. If many, then he has a point. In any event, the issue seems to have been resolved and if I happen to be in Little Rock, I will look forward to visiting both displays.
