Holiday Hike Planned At Lake
A Christmas Day hike is planned for 2:30 p.m. Friday at Lake Sequoyah in Fayetteville. Meet at the information kiosk across the road from Lake Sequoyah boat dock.
The hike will cover 4 miles and visit the lake, White River and surrounding countryside. Call Wade Caldwell at 479-466-8345 for details.
Beaver Lake Level To Drop
The Army Corps of Engineers will begin lowering Beaver Lake about Jan. 4, barring heavy rain. Park Ranger Alan Bland said hydropower generation will take place around the clock until about Jan. 13. Then generation will be 12 hours each day until the lake reaches elevation 1,120 feet above sea level.
Two Fayetteville Lakes Closed
Lakes Fayetteville and Sequoyah will be closed through Jan. 15. All permits will be due for payment when the lakes reopen.
