CONWAY — Central Arkansas freshman forward Megan Herbert was named the Southland women’s basketball player of the week Monday. She is the first league player to receive two player of the week awards this season.
Herbert averaged 34 points and 15 rebounds in two victories last week that completed a sweep of a seven-game home stand.
Herbert had a career-high 38 points in an 85-44 victory over Wiley College on Dec. 14 and followed that with a career-high 19 rebounds in a 72-64 victory over Southeast Missouri State on Saturday. Herbert shot 61.8 percent from the field, 60 percent from three-point range and 95.8 percent (23 of 24) from the free-throw line, including an 18-of-19 performance against Southeast Missouri State.
