FAYETTEVILLE — Police suspect kids are behind a string of thefts from vehicles in a central Fayetteville neighborhood.
More than a dozen people living just north of Wilson Park reported items stolen late Sunday night or early Monday morning. Police think juveniles were looking for unlocked cars in the area, and also broke windows to get into several vehicles, said Sgt. Bill Phelan.
Thefts were reported on Cleburn, Vandeventer, Park, Prospect and Trenton streets. Officers also responded to a call for found property and recovered a backpack full of items matching the description of some of the stolen goods, Phelan said.
No arrests have been made, he said.
