FAYETTEVILLE HOME PLAYS HOSTS TO SINFONIA CHAMBER MUSICIANS

— The board of the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra hosted a dinner for musicians with the Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra of Krakow, Poland, on Monday at the Fayetteville home of Holly and Buzz Smardo.

The musicians performed at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall on the University of Arkansas campus on Dec. 13.

“It was unbelievable,” Holly Smardo said of the Sunday concert. She’s secretary of the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra Board of Directors.

Judy Rownak, who also serves on the board, said it was the kind of musical performance that listeners hoped would not end.

In addition to the University of Arkansas concert, the Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra also performed at Arend Arts Center on the Bentonville High School campus on Tuesday. The Arkansas Philharmonic sponsored the concert as part of its education programs for the season.

The musicians will be featured performers at 3 p.m. today at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers. “Amahland the Night Visitors,” sponsored by the Messiah Project of Springfield, Mo., will bepresented in the special event. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
