Obama touts climate deal by 5 nations

But many parties unhappy as conference misses goals

Climate summit delegates and journalists crowd around a television Friday in Copenhagen to hear President Barack Obama announce a five-nation agreement on curbing greenhouse gases. Obama added that hammering out a legally binding global treaty will be “very hard.”

President Barack Obama announced Friday night that five major nations, including the United States, had together forged a climate deal. He called it “an unprecedented breakthrough” but acknowledged that it still fell short of what was required to combat global warming.
