Diabetes in Arkansas

Ivividly recall everything about that day in 1997. It was the morning when my former family physician, Dr. Sam Turner, looked me squarely in the eye and pronounced, “Your blood sugar is over 300. That’s at diabetic levels.” Naaah, that couldn’t be, doc, I thought.
