Feeble economy nips inflation

As home-building picks up, recovery hopes grow

Workers install a heating system Wednesday in a new home in Barre, Vt. Construction of new homes rebounded in November from an October setback, the Commerce Department reported.

The economy is weak enough to keep inflation in check but strong enough to increase the pace of home construction and raise hopes for a sustained recovery.
