As of nine days ago, Chad Ramey and Scott Taylor had never stepped onto the floor for a varsity basketball game.

With most of his team in first-half foul trouble, however, Springdale Har-Ber coach Eric Burnett didn’t hesitate to call on the sophomore guards. Ramey and Taylor couldn’t keep the Wildcats from losing to Springfield (Mo.) Kickapoo on Dec. 8.

But the athletic duo thoroughly impressed coaches and teammates with their scrappy style of play. They sparked an immediate 12-3 run, and Taylor found Ramey for a 3-pointer that narrowed Kickapoo’s lead to two points by halftime.
