Fayetteville Boys Respond After Loss

After suffering a one-point loss to North Pulaski on Friday, Fayetteville came out with plenty of bite Saturday in securing third place in the Wampus Cat Invitational.

The Bulldogs (6-2) quickly turned a confrontation of last year’s Class 7A and 6A state champions into no contest with a 60-31 win over Jacksonville. Fayetteville led 15-4 in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead.

“We came out and played better and executed what we needed to do,” Fayetteville coach Barry Gebhart said. “We came out with a lot of focus on defense and that carried over to the offensive end. It was just one of those nights that everything clicked for us.”
