PUBLIC VIEWPOINT Resolutions For Politicians
Posted: December 13, 2009 at 5:10 a.m.
It’s a bit early for 2010 resolutions, but I wanted to get a head start to help our politicians, so here are a few of them:
1. I promise I will remember that I work for my constituents and not to work to get myself re-elected.
2. If I plan to run for a higher office while still in my elected position, I promise I will continue to work at my present job until six months prior to Election Day and receive no pay when I start campaigning. After all, why should I get paid when I am not doing my job I was elected to do; also, why should it take two years or more to keep repeating my intentions which I may or may not keep?
3. When a bill of several thousand pages comes up for a vote, I promise that I will read each and every word in the bill; after all, I want to be well-informed before I vote.
4. I promise that I will not votewith my party just because I am a Republican or a Democrat. I want to vote for what is right for my country and not because my party wants me to vote along party lines.
5. I promise to secure all borders in America and to complete the southern border wall before amnesty is granted to all illegal immigrants presently in America.
I just know that amnesty is just around the corner even though the majority of American citizens might be against it.
6. I want immigrants to come to our country to have a better life; however, I want them to file papers to come here legally. I will write a bill to that effect and follow through.
7. I will create a bill that immigrants who have been waiting years to come to our country will have to wait no longer than one year after filing papers. I realize that waiting six years or longer is way too long and unnecessary.
8. I promise that I will knowwhat our Constitution says by reading and understanding it so we can honor our forefathers who knew what they were doing. I promise not to break any law so we can have law and order in our great country as we once knew it.
9. I promise that I realize that seniors need their Social Security raises more than I need mine. I will see that senior citizens get an automatic raise each and every year. After all, I know that once I am out of office, I am set for life financially.
10. I promise that, from this day on, all Social Security monies collected will be put into an interest-bearing account for future generations. I will also see that the present I.O.U.’s for Social Security are replaced by real dollars.
These are my promises to you, my dear constituents. Now, will you vote for me?
