Church member Richard Thames performs an act of veneration to an icon of Jesus. “The first time I went in (to the Orthodox church), I immediately fell in love,” said the former Presbyterian. “It kind of felt like I went home.”
Gospel music benefit, 6 p.m. Dec. 19, Elkins Community Center. Benefits Crystal Hills Family Fellowship Church building fund. Food, including homemade pies, available at 5:30 p.m. Southern Tradition, Stateline Bluegrass and the Sonlighters will perform. Cost: $5.
