Suspect killed in Times Square gunfight

Police officers guard a cordoned-off area around the Marriott Marquis hotel after a shooting Thursday in New York’s Times Square.

A plainclothes police officer chased a scam artist through sidewalks crowded with Christmas shoppers and tourists Thursday in the heart of Times Square, killing the suspect near a landmark Broadway hotel after a gunfight that shattered box-office and gift-shop windows, police said.
