Bentonville Girls Lack Fire, Fall In Bixby Tournament

Posted: December 11, 2009 at 3:50 a.m.

The Bentonville girls basketball team had “no fire” during its opening game at the Bixby (Okla.) Tournament on Thursday and fell into the loser’s bracket after a 40-26 loss to Ozark, Mo.

“We didn’t play very well,” Bentonville coach Tom Halbmaier said. “We came out flat. No fire. No energy. We didn’t execute the way we needed to execute.”

Ozark added to a seven-point halftime lead by outscoring the Lady Tigers 7-2 in the third quarter. Bentonville (4-2) had seven turnovers in that period.

Ozark also hit seven 3-pointers in the win while Bentonville had just one.

Montana Lewis led the Lady Tigers — who play Glenpool, Okla., today — with 12 points. Blaklee Sanders added five points.
