COACHES CELEBRATE TITLE WITH WAFFLE HOUSE MEAL

Springdale Har-Ber coach Chris Wood was still in a state of euphoria Sunday afternoon.
Less than 24 hours after the Wildcats captured their first Class 7A state championship with a 27-6 victory over Fort Smith Southside on Saturday night in War Memorial Stadium, Wood said the overwhelming feeling is one he’ll never forget.
“That was the kind of win we needed, it solidified everything we’ve been trying to do,” said Wood, who celebrated the title by eating at Waffle House late Saturday with two of his assistant coaches. “That win put a stamp on our program and verified us as a legit football team in the state. That’s what we were aiming for.”
