Rogers Heritage went 8-1 in dual matches over the weekend to finish second in a 10-team tournament at Jay, Okla.

Rogers High finished 3-6 in the tournament, but won three of four Saturday after a slow start Friday.

Heritage defeated Diamond, Mo., (63-18), Stilwell, Okla. (48-22), Rogers High (76-3), Poteau, Okla., (70-10), Springfield, Mo., Central, (48-19), Springdale Har-Ber (72-6), Gentry (54-27) and Bentonville (51-24). The War Eagles forfeited their match against Jay, Okla., (1-0).

Heritage coach Randy Steen said “it was not a good situation” referring to the forfeit. He had no further comment.

Heritage, the 6A-7A state runner-up a year ago, showed well despite missing state champion Jared Arthur, who was competing at the Arkansas State Cheerleading Championships.
