HOW WE SEE IT: Pearl Harbor Remembered

Sixty-eight years ago today, a typical Sunday morning in Hawaii was suddenly interrupted by the sounds of planes buzzing overhead and bombs exploding. By the end of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, 19 naval vessels had been sunk or severely damaged and 188 U.S. aircraft had been destroyed; about 2,400 Americans had been killed and hundreds more had been wounded.
