Offensive’s toll at least 7 Taliban

U.S. Marines escort new Afghan policemen to their base in Khan Neshin in the volatile Helmand province, far south of where the offensive against the Taliban was under way. The Afghan officers will train alongside the Marines.
U.S. Marines and Afghan troops have killed at least seven Taliban fighters during the first U.S.-led offensive since President Barack Obama announced a new American war plan this week, Afghan officials said Saturday.
