Where I live: I live in Johnson. We decided on this area because it is so close to everything. We fell in love with our particular neighborhood because every house in our neighborhood is different, [with] a distinct personality. Our house is open and perfect for entertaining.
Occupation: Program director for Drug Free Rogers-Lowell. We are a community-based coalition whose programs include the prevention of underage drinking, tobacco use, prescription drug abuse, cocaine addiction and methamphetamine use.
I started in law enforcement as a probation and parole officer. After five years, I was burned out. I felt like I wasn’t making an impact. When we moved here, the position at the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce became available, and I decided that I could assist in preventing the issues that I had been dealing with as a probation officer.
My favorite space: Outdoors in general, but more specifically in our front or backyard.
Why? Our backyard and front yard are total opposites. Our backyard is secluded with lots of landscaping. This is where we enjoy entertaining. Our front porch is open and looks out onto our neighborhood. We enjoy sitting there enjoying neighborhood activities, reading or relaxing.
If I could do one thing to improve this space I would: Make it to where the weather would allow us to spend even more time outdoors.
