Hayden Greenway proved to be the spark plug Rogers Heritage needed Friday.
Greenway scored 16 points and came up with several big plays as the War Eagles beat Bentonville Gold 39-36 in the boys junior high championship of the Benton County Invitational in Panther Arena.
“He did break out,” Heritage coach Tom Williams said of Greenway. “He had been struggling with his shot a little bit. Without his contribution (Friday), we wouldn’t have finished first for sure.”
Greenway only had three points going into the final seconds of the first half when he hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer and was fouled after he attempted the shot.
