Class 7A: Luther leads Har-Ber to school's first state title

— Springdale Har-Ber won its first state championship in school history with ease Saturday night at War Memorial Stadium.

The Wildcats (12-1) held Fort Smith Southside (9-5) in check on defense, and quarterback Ryan Luther earned MVP honors in front of 4,582 in attendance.

Har-Ber secured the game with a 94-yard drive, capped by Shawn Sayarinh's 9-yard touchdown run with 9:22 remaining. On the ensuing possession, Luther tossed a 45-yard touchdown to Joshua McKinney to stretch the lead to 27-6.

Har-Ber's defense held Southside to 27 yards and two first downs in the first half, while the Wildcats' offense moved the ball down field, piled on 176 yards and took a 13-0 lead. The Rebels finished with 100 yards of offense, and Har-Ber finished with 394 yards and 24 first downs.

Luther completed 18 of 28 passes for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed for 36 yards on 10 carries.

Houston Pruitt, who had an interception on defense in the fourth quarter, also tossed a 7-yard touchdown on his only pass attempt for the Wildcats.
