OZARK, Mo. Morgan Hook became the all-time Rogers High girls scoring leader Thursday night as the senior scored 17 points in the Lady Mounties' 45-40 loss to Ozark, Mo., at the Ozark Girls Basketball Tournament.
Hook broke the record with 1 minute, 58 seconds left in the first half, but the Oklahoma signee left the game in the third period with a high ankle sprain.
Lady Mounties coach Preston Early said Hook will miss Saturday's game against Rogersville, Mo., but he was hopeful that she will return next week for the Tournament of Champions in Fort Smith.
Rogers (3-1) led Ozark 23-21 at halftime and had a 28-23 lead when Hook was hurt with 5 minutes left in the third.
"There is a pretty good lump on it," Early said. "She came down on another player's foot and it rolled to the outside. She is going to miss time, we don't know how much."
Hook started the season third on the scoring list with 1,001 points.
As a junior, Hook averaged 18 points a game while helping lead the Lady Mounties to the semifinals at the Class 7A State Tournament. Hook shot 50 percent from the floor, 44 percent from 3-point range and 70 percent from the free-throw line a year ago. She also set single-season records for points (517) and assists (141).
She scored 17 points in 19 minutes Thursday. Hayley Clark added seven points for the Lady Mounties.
"We played a hard-nosed, well-coached team on their home court," Early said. "Our kids are down, but we are going to regroup."
After Saturday's game, Rogers will be off until Dec. 10 when they face nationally ranked Wichita (Kan.) Heights at the Fort Smith Tournament of Champions at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.
