When President Obama visited the Great Wall of China, he posed dramatically atop the wall. “It reminds you of the sweep of history and our time here on earth is not that long,” he intoned. “We better make the best of it.” Poetic, perhaps, but words unlikely to inspire China’s leaders to change their anti-freedom policies one iota.
