2 workers fall from roof area at Cowboys Stadium

Posted: December 3, 2009 at 9:31 a.m.

— Arlington police say two workers have been hurt in a roof-related fall at the new $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium.

Assistant Fire Chief Don Crowson says apparently the two were working on the top hatch of the retractable-roof venue “and they slipped” around 7:20 a.m. Thursday.

Live TV coverage showed fire department crews atop the stadium, where the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys began playing this season. Emergency crews worked to lower the victims.

Police spokeswoman Tiara Ellis Richard says the two workers fell from an upper roof to a lower section.

Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple said workers were on the roof for ongoing maintenance that will continue through the new year.

Dalrymple did not know the extent of the injuries and said he was unsure if cold weather was a factor. The National Weather Service says temperatures were near freezing at the time of the accident Thursday morning.
