PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Many Thanks To Dr. Weiss
Posted: December 2, 2009 at 3:57 a.m.
On Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, my husband was wheeled, semiconscious, into the room after completing a heart catherization done by Dr. Joel Carver. Dr. Carver told me my husband, Ted, needed a quadruple heart bypass as soon as possible. He had a 99 percent blockage. It was necessary to choose a surgeon that night, pack a bag and be admitted to the hospital. I knew our surgeon would be Dr. John Weiss, who had saved a family friend several years before. The doctor had our trust “hands down.” I conveyed this to Dr. Carver and waited for my husband to recover consciouness. The halls were quiet as my husband lay quietly on the gurney. I thanked God that we had found out about the blockage and that we had a surgeon who could and would save my husband’s life.
