Fayetteville officer shoots man suspected in bank robbery attempt

FAYETTEVILLE A Fayetteville police officer shot a man Wednesday afternoon at the Arvest Bank at Garland and Wedington avenues after receiving a report that a robbery was in progress, witnesses said.
The man was transported by ambulance to Washington Regional Medical Center, but his immediate condition was unknown. Emergency medical workers were performing CPR on the man as they took him to the hospital.
A witness said the officer pulled into the bank's parking lot, stepped out of his car and quickly fired three shots. The man was shot in the drive-through area of the bank, where a car with a plastic bag covering the license plate sat nearby
Police were releasing no information in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
